I love Julia Child's Kitchen. First of all it was made for her. This amazing woman was 6 feet tall...
I can sympathize with her as I am 5'10". She had her counters raised to be comfortable for her height.
She was also not afraid of displaying everything out in the open. Her tools were at the ready! One of the ways she achieved this with the peg boards. Now I won't say that I'm a huge fan...but lately I have become intrigued by them.
I want to expand my ideas about peg board. Here are some new ways to use it in your home.
Rethinking jewelry storage with pegboard...I
especially like the use of coat hooks as a hanging method.
Retail display for drawer knobs...note the stencil used on the peg board.
I have a collection of drawer knobs sitting around...stay tuned for what I create
with them and the peg board.
You have finally found the "mid century modern vintage bar cart" you've been searching for.
Of course stock it with the best liquor and wine that you can afford.
Plenty of olives and lemons.
Stock up on tonic and seltzer, toothpicks and cocktail napkins.
Don't forget your "non"drinking friends and have a variety of "gourmet" sodas.
But .....where is the sparkle and personality? Look for vintage decanter pieces that tell a story.
Vintage Napoleon Brandy glasses.
Find statement pieces that had height and a real presence to your bar cart.
A distinctive carafe can hold your orange juice for your Mimosas.
It's very affordable to create a fantastic bar cart that will make your party unique
and have your guests talking.
The series Mad Men is entering it's last season. We have so enjoyed the story lines and have swooned over the amazing fashion and interior design. They have stayed true to the era and have inspired us to revisit the style and swag of the 1960's.
Vintage Home Shop will continue to find all the mid-century modern pieces
that reflect that time.
We sadly say good-bye to Mad Men, cheers and thank you for all of the inspiration you have given us.

I studied the rules of lighting...
shades proportionate to the size of the base.

I have lots of followers who are on the look out for Cathrineholm..from California to Norway.
Whenever I am fortunate enough to find a piece of Cathrineholm enamelware I will share it here. You can purchase it in my shop on Etsy...just click on the photo and it will take you there.
I happened to notice Cathrineholm designs on Pinterest...classic mid century modern to me...with a touch of Scandinavian. The Lotus design intrigued me.
During a romp through Goodwill, I love my romps by the way, I found a basket of nick nacks and inside this little collection were three spice jars. Could they be Cathrineholm? I peeked at the base and found a Made in Japan sticker. Uh? Well a quick google search on my phone revealed that, yes, Cathrineholm manufactured in Japan for the American market. Good to know.
I bought the basket for a song. Took them home. Posted them on my Etsy Shop and a mere 6 hours later they were sold to a collector in Norway.
That day my love affair with Cathrineholm began. Because of the sale. No.
Because of the beauty and the simple design of the pieces. The more research I
do, the deeper my obsession becomes.
The designer responsible for this striking collection was a woman by the name of
Grete Prytz Kittelsen and is she if oft times referred to as the
“Queen of Scandinavian Design”.
I will continue to search and research the collection. I hope to send them on to
collectors...so let me know if you are interested
and I will give you first
chance before I list them.
