I love Julia Child's Kitchen. First of all it was made for her. This amazing woman was 6 feet tall... I can sympathize with her as I am 5'10". She had her counters raised to be comfortable for her height. She was also not afraid of displaying everything out in the open. Her tools were at the ready! One of the ways she achieved this with the peg boards. Now I won't say that I'm a huge fan...but lately I have become intrigued by them. I want to expand my ideas about peg board. Here are some new ways to use it in your home. Rethinking jewelry storage with pegboard...I especially like the use of coat hooks as a hanging method. Retail display for drawer knobs...note the stencil used on the peg board. relovedrubbish.blogspot.com I have a collection of drawer knobs sitting around...stay tuned for what I create
with them and the peg board. Country Living_ Maison Decor via Country Living Magazine Vintage Home Shop Clean out those cupboards, organize the pantry, and do it all in Vintage Style !

Click on any of the photos to shop! Every major city has an Anthropologie Store. A delight for the eyes in merchandising...window display and presentation. I'm often looking above the eyeline of the store. The clothing is always lovely and on trend... housewares are wonderfully creative...but the displays...oh, the displays. Anthropologie is transitioning for the fall and new items were being unpacked. I watched the merchandising director begin this wonderful tabletop... I asked if I may take photos...she smiled and sweetly obliged. A great idea for a plate rack. Branches suspend to make a clothng rack.
You may not have a ticket to France or the time to walk the flea markets of Paris...but you can window shop on Etsy...here are a few of my French treasures from Vintage Home Shop.
Amuser ! I happened to notice Cathrineholm designs on Pinterest...classic mid century modern to me...with a touch of Scandinavian. The Lotus design intrigued me. During a romp through Goodwill, I love my romps by the way, I found a basket of nick nacks and inside this little collection were three spice jars. Could they be Cathrineholm? I peeked at the base and found a Made in Japan sticker. Uh? Well a quick google search on my phone revealed that, yes, Cathrineholm manufactured in Japan for the American market. Good to know. I bought the basket for a song. Took them home. Posted them on my Etsy Shop and a mere 6 hours later they were sold to a collector in Norway. That day my love affair with Cathrineholm began. Because of the sale. No. Because of the beauty and the simple design of the pieces. The more research I do, the deeper my obsession becomes. The designer responsible for this striking collection was a woman by the name of Grete Prytz Kittelsen and is she if oft times referred to as the “Queen of Scandinavian Design”. I will continue to search and research the collection. I hope to send them on to
collectors...so let me know if you are interested and I will give you first chance before I list them. Add your name and e-mail address below. Treasuries on Etsy feature vintage and handmade items...these are ones I collected in the story of Serena. Little Serena is a baby who underwent open heart surgery at 8 days old. All of the blood was drained from her body, her core temperature was taken to hypothermia, her heart was repaired and then her heart was restarted. She is only a couple months old now, but she is the bravest "little woman" I have ever know. I muse over her life as an adult...because I know she will live and thrive. 'Impending Gray Skies' by BabyTweedsIn celebration of National Thrift Shop Day on August 17th. Enjoy!
While grey has been trending in fashion for the last 2 seasons. Many tones of grey are becoming more accepted by the consumer. With a base of browns making a warm grey, and blues that create a cool grey, customers are looking at grey with new eyes.
Look for grey to show up in housewares...any minute now the the newest Kitchen Aide Mixer will be showing up. I've always tried to incorporate unique tools into my kitchen...Sure I could use a "brand spanking new" gadget from the store...or I could find a vintage piece that just works great and lends a beautiful aesthetic to my home. Brass Corkscrew made in Italy and monogrammed in an elegant script. A Vintage Brass Greek Pepper Mill There's nothing like the chippy ice you get from this vintage ice tray! A vintage porcelain gravy separator made in France...make the most mundane task seem special.
Are you hunting for a special kitchen gadget or tool? Let me know and so I can keep my eye out for you! Next week I will be going on a shopping trip through the mountains of West Virginia..I'll be sure to find lots of goodies and pics to share with you! Camille |
