| I found a "Made in India" brass basket, it was tired looking, but sturdy. What to do? Well I painted it, distressed it and I'm pretty happy with it. Is this something you have tried? |

I've always loved Classic TV. I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke Show, and today more modern classics like Everybody Loves Raymond. My Mom would watch TV with a discerning eye. She will, to this day, look at the rooms and the props, Many times she has turned to me and asked if I like the wall paper in the scene or do you think those shelves would work in our dining room? At a young age I started to do the same. I noticed all the details...such as I Love Lucy's vine dishes. Everybody Loves Raymond, Marie's Kitchen I just received a note from one of my customers that reminded me why I love to sell vintage.
This lamp hung in my parents kitchen when I was a kid. After many moves up and down the east coast it lost it's way at some point. I forgot all about it until I saw an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond and this same lamp is hanging in Raymond's mom's kitchen. I Googled it and here it is at ur shop. Can't wait to see the look on my parents face when I hang this up. It's awesome! Robert Roan II It's not just about finding vintage, it's about saving a bit of history. I love my job. https://www.etsy.com/shop/VintageHomeShop?ref=hdr_shop_menu The MCM label, which originally stood for Michael Cromer Munich, was founded by Michael Cromer in 1976 in Munich, Germany. The company designed expensive leather suitcases and handbags which became popular during the 1980s for being "ostentatious and flashy." At the height of its popularity in 1993, it owned 250 branches worldwide and recorded sales of $250 million. Sadly the company had tax problems and had to be restructured ...but they are still in existence and continue to sell beautiful handmade leather pieces. The style is classic and , compared to some designers today, quite understated. This little kitchen holds a ton of character. Bold color. A collection of items handed down from generation to generation. Precious pieces from travels. It is design that doesn't take itself too seriously; much like the English. Updates are made and embraced, but the history remains. Shop the Look with pieces found on Etsy. I recently accquired a Moroccan Wedding Blanket...quite frankly I didn't know what I was purchasing..but I knew it was handmade, wool and like nothing I had ever seen before. After a little researching I discovered it's heritage. Song of Style Moroccan wedding blankets are woven by the bride’s female relatives. I can only imagine how long it takes to weave and attach hundreds of mirrored sequins. During the creation of the blanket the bride’s relatives share with her all secrets of a good marriage. After the wedding ceremony, the bride wears the blanket tied around her neck as a kind of cape and then it is used in the home. This is the quilt I purchased...click the photo to see more about it in my Etsy Shop. Glitter Inc.
Freshen up your kitchen with vintage barkcloth.
You can find it on Etsy, Ebay and of course your favorite auctions. Each piece has a link on where to find it. You love those quirky pieces...don't be afraid to live with them. Vintage Home Shop offbeathome.com pinkfriday.blogg.se Vintage Home Shop
Today I have a giddy heart ! This is the third in my series of "My First Venture into Milk Paint ! " It is not a project for anyone with control issues. It is all a mystery. It mixes with a mind of it's own, it applies as it wishes and it reveals whatever it wants. Ladies and Gentlemen...this is Milk Paint. This is the reveal. The paint is chippy in very random areas. I can barely wait to start removing the flaking paint. Now this is FUN ! I am very happy with the results..now to research how to preserve this look.
I think it will be a polyurethane. Big thank you to Miss Mustard Seed ...your instructions are thorough and you have a great way of making your customers feel at ease. I tell myself to remember that it's only paint. I'll relax next time. Camille Well it arrived...I was so excited ! I watched Miss Mustard Seed's videos...a few times... and made up a small batch of milk paint. Equal parts powder to equal parts water. "This is thin." I think. Watch the video again. Seems like I'm doing this right. I think. Let me be honest with you. I get flustered sometimes. I KNOW this is going to work but, what if I'm wrong? I would never let anyone else know what I'm thinking. Pride. "I'm super excited about this project." I say with glee. I wait until no one else is in the building. (I work in a beautiful Consignment Shop and my wonderful boss let's me do side projects when it's slow.) I put on the first coat...it's thin, it's a little grainy, it's drippy. "Crap." I bravely press forward and get a first coat, and then a second thinner coat. Now...I wait....what? What is this...? Hmmm ...there may be no need to panic ! Follow me to see what happens next.....!
I couldn't resist...I just couldn't ! The last piece at the auction was this headboard...bidding had been chugging along for the last 2 hours. Everyone had left or was heading to the door. "20...20...20..." I felt my arm, almost unintentionally, raise. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Bob's head cock to the side. I grinned and squinted my eyes at him. "25...25...25....SOLD !" Well...I had been contemplating this for awhile. This was my chance. I'm going to try my hand at Milk Paint. After watching the video tutorials from Miss Mustard Seed Paints I went online and purchased Grain Sack Milk Paint. Results can look like this...or not...according to the tutorial...it will be a surprise. Follow my journey...we will find out together.
