Whichever it is we love maps. There will be a generation that has never opened, or more importantly, refolded a map. I suppose maps will now be considered quaint. This is the oldest I have ever had in my shop, from the 1790's. I have an obsession with vintage hardware for furniture...whether it's pulls, knobs or handles...I'm all in...crystal, brass or porcelain. I don't have enough projects for all the pieces I have collected. So you will find them at Vintage Home Shop and in some of my favorite shops on Etsy. English Shop English Shop
I happened to notice Cathrineholm designs on Pinterest...classic mid century modern to me...with a touch of Scandinavian. The Lotus design intrigued me. During a romp through Goodwill, I love my romps by the way, I found a basket of nick nacks and inside this little collection were three spice jars. Could they be Cathrineholm? I peeked at the base and found a Made in Japan sticker. Uh? Well a quick google search on my phone revealed that, yes, Cathrineholm manufactured in Japan for the American market. Good to know. I bought the basket for a song. Took them home. Posted them on my Etsy Shop and a mere 6 hours later they were sold to a collector in Norway. That day my love affair with Cathrineholm began. Because of the sale. No. Because of the beauty and the simple design of the pieces. The more research I do, the deeper my obsession becomes. The designer responsible for this striking collection was a woman by the name of Grete Prytz Kittelsen and is she if oft times referred to as the “Queen of Scandinavian Design”. I will continue to search and research the collection. I hope to send them on to

Treasuries on Etsy feature vintage and handmade items...these are ones I collected in the story of Serena. Little Serena is a baby who underwent open heart surgery at 8 days old. All of the blood was drained from her body, her core temperature was taken to hypothermia, her heart was repaired and then her heart was restarted. She is only a couple months old now, but she is the bravest "little woman" I have ever know. I muse over her life as an adult...because I know she will live and thrive. Wabi-sabi 佗寂 represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". Discarded. Camille Bonnell Neglected. Resurrected.
As we head into the fall season be on the look out for new trending colors. While grey has been trending in fashion for the last 2 seasons. Many tones of grey are becoming more accepted by the consumer. With a base of browns making a warm grey, and blues that create a cool grey, customers are looking at grey with new eyes.
Look for grey to show up in housewares...any minute now the the newest Kitchen Aide Mixer will be showing up. When we were children the Easter Bunny left us the colorful plastic basket with the plastic green grass. As we got our "designer wings" we stretched out and thought ourselves very cleaver and brought out the real wicker baskets and crinkled brown paper grass... Now let's let our imaginations run wild again and turn the traditional Easter Basket on it's head ! A precocious elf on a wooden shoe could hold a shiny piece of jewelry for Easter. Three blue birds of happiness on a planter wagon could be filled with lucious chocolates or a small green plant. An authentic Art Deco Jardiniere filled with bath lotions and potions, treats or a glorious plant....
